About The Flower from a Poisoned Seed:

A brave, profound gay memoir. I haven’t read anything else quite like this. David reflects on role play: The top tries to give an experience to the bottom. It’s physical, often with hidden meaning. The bottom may be frustrated by his inability to get what he came for, the top may be frustrated by his inability to provide it, and their lack of fulfillment keeps them together. If they ever were to exchange a sublime experience that achieved their scripted goals and transformed both of them, they would cease to need each other.

To me, one of the biggest strengths of this book was how it managed to subtly flesh out something I have long found to be true, but don’t think I’ve seen articulated as clearly as this book does it: that there is an inherent ‘’trauma’’ to being alive… A well-written and highly profound read that touches on so many aspects of desire, inner life, and what it takes to find out WHY we are how we are.

Together Let Us Sweetly Live:

Through first-person interviews, Jon David provides a ground-level view of an amazing slice of American life: the music of the Singing and Praying Bands of the Chesapeake Bay area. The included CD is only five songs, but it alone is worth the price of admission. Commentary by the author adds greatly to the value of the project.
